Why are we so incensed over a tax hike?
It is fascinating to see how exasperated Americans become while confronted with a possibility of a tax increase. The feeling of hostility, towards the idea of more taxes and bigger government, seems to be embedded into very psyche of American nation and makes any rational discussion of this topic impractical. Yet, as I sit in front of my computer and am not surrounded by this madness, I can have a coherent ‘debate’ on this topic. (Without being interrupted by the characters portrayed so well by Donald Sutherland in Invasion of the Body Snatchers) |

Why do we need Decency? We've got a Constitution!
Whenever there is a debate about a particular issue in our society, I was astonished to see a Constitution or a quote from one of the Founding Fathers was being used every time to justify a particular point of view. It is as if to say that all that we are or ought to be is in American Constitution and without it we are nothing. I could never understand how so many in this country proclaim that The Law and Constitution need to be protected? Not the women and children. Not the impoverished or even innocent, not the victims, but The Law and Constitution.
