'Conscious America’ is a site designed, in hope, to show that we can control many critical aspects of our lives, if we choose to accept responsibility for the choices that we make.

Why is the media so focused on the abuse of terrorists?Date Released: 06/17/2005
I'll get right to the point. At the beginning, there was an abuse at the Abu Ghreib prison: a 'horrible' string of incidents where terrorists were 'tortured' using women's underwear, photographed in groups and tormented using other methods...

Then, we've heard about the desecration of Quran and calls to close the prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The 'Great Humanitarian' organization (I won't name it here) even called it "the gulag of our time".

Somewhere during this period there was a report (must be by accident, as it doesn't involve American soldiers) about the rapes of hundreds of innocent women and children as young as 12 years old in Africa by the U.N. peacekeepers. Before that, there was a brief debate on whether to call the killings of over 10,000 people a month in the Darfur area a genocide?

Whatever happened to that debate? Or the African people in Darfur? Are they still being slaughtered? Should the mark of 10,000 butchered Africans be increased to a greater number to achieve the level of Genocide? Shouldn't U.N. come up with the rules to help as understand the different levels of atrocities? (I imagine some 'good people' can't sleep at night not knowing if it is a Genocide or Not. After all this is America! We have the right to know!)

... or may be the media isn't interested in talking about it? Why would they? Mass killings of innocent people in Sudan or rape of African women and young girls cannot compare with the three cases of Quran desecration and the distress the American soldiers had caused to the terrorists in the Abu Ghreib and possibly other prisons... In this society, innocent have no right to protection - evil does. (May be the reason innocent are being massacred and raped is because evil knows it will be protected? Hurray for the U.N. and the media!)

The answer to my earlier question as to why our media is so captivated by the 'atrocities' committed by our Armed Forces is - I don't know. I know one thing: values such as Truth, Compassion and Decency have no place in the media.
