The real abuse in Abu Ghreib prison (part 1)Date Released: 05/28/2005
It doesn't seem that the subject of the prisoners' abuse will ever end, so lets talk about the Truth.

As we went to war many military analysts suggested that we do not have enough troops to secure Iraq. Now, that this war has been waged for over a year, we all know that we did not have enough troops.

It was widely reported in the media, that many soldiers, guarding the prisoners in Iraq, were not qualified nor had a proper training for such a duty. There was a confusion as to who is responsible for what, even amongst the high-ranking military personnel (ie.Brig. Gen. Janis Karpinski was put in charge of prisons and the military police. Yet the guards were also taking orders from the contract interrogators, who reported to another branch of the military and, as she writes in the article below, are immune from the military prosecution ???). One of the questions is: "Who was supposed to supervise the guards at the prison?". According to our government - Janis Karpinski. Let's see... If you are told to follow orders of one commander and during that time did something wrong, another commander is responsible for your mistake? I think that our government has a very 'convenient logic' when it has to do with accepting responsibility...

If our administration were decent, they would have accepted a full responsibility for not supervising the soldiers in the prisons. For not reinforcing the guidelines and establishing clear and unambiguous rules as to what military police must and must not do; especially in the times when many of their friends are getting killed by the people like the ones they guard. Instead, the government has sacrificed our soldiers, who, I believe, were trying to assist the interrogators in their job of getting the information from the terrorists.

One would think that the media, at least in this matter, will want the Truth, but they are only looking for blood.

The real abuse... (part 2)

Updated 5/3/09

Here are a few links to articles that finally lift the veil of secret interrogation guidelines that were issued to our soldiers by the Bush administration in Iraq: (that for some reason were 'forgotten' - or rather ignored - by that administration's minions during soldiers' court-martial. When we are after blood, truth or innocence should not stand in a way...)

I’ve seen comments, made by many Americans, accusing our soldiers of committing a crime while following such orders. This is very typical in our society, where so called ‘innocent’ elected a president for a second time, paid taxes to invade Iraq, listened to “stay the course” mantra while doing nothing – when things were getting from bad to worse – and now accuse the soldiers who only carried out our wishes. Only dark and truly hideous souls crucify others, just to hide from the stench of their own fear. Why would we be surprised that our former government did the same?
