| It’s becoming a fashion for some nowadays to refer to themselves as “a man of peace”.
How wonderful it must feel to see yourself in the Light, standing up tall and proud for peace and decency.
Of course, it doesn’t make the refugees in Sudan and many other places around the world feel any safer, having such ‘Noble Knights’ protecting the peace. With tens of thousands dead and millions displaced, it seems the only thing that they protect is the despair and darkness that is spreading almost unchallenged throughout the lands.
Any time a lonely voice sounds an alarm - demanding an immediate end to the atrocities, an avalanche of accusations of warmongering and crime against the peace is sent forth, crashing the lonely voice, as the ‘noble’ stand proud fulfilling the bidding of their Master. The harshest action that they view as an ‘acceptable’ - is a ‘threat’ of UN sanctions. (To further impoverish the needy). While women and children are slaughtered and people are starved - we talk.
Evil, in turn, offers them great rewards. While the vile creatures serve and protect the darkness (by obstructing any concrete and immediate actions to stop the killings and suffering), the Master grants its disciples the ‘magic shroud of light’ - a mask, that bestows an image of nobility and honor onto the most hideous and foul creatures. And as they look in the mirror and see the proud and noble faces, we - the people, turn away from the Truth, refusing to see them for who they are - silencing a tiny voice of decency within ourselves.
We are not prepared to stand in the path of Evil and protect the innocent, risking our own lives. We are not even willing to demand that sufficient force be sent to protect those people and help them rebuild their land. We simply do not feel the pain of others until it touches us. If we did - the world would change.
The sad part of it all is that as we look in the mirror, we begin to be comforted by the same soothing ‘shroud of light’, granted to us by the Master. I am a person of peace, after all! |
